All about the Blogs

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

First came the web, then the web log, the space was removed and it became weblog, we was removed and it became a blog. Sources disagree on when the term was first coined. Some say blogging first appeared in 1995, while others credit John Bayer with first using the term in 1997. Either way, blogging has become a popular pastime and blogs are a common part of the internet community. Some maintain that web logs are personal diaries or journals of individuals and blogs are topic specific sites. The term is commonly used to describe both personal diaries and topic specific sites.

Types of Blogs

In the beginning, blogs were straight text. Now most contain text and images. Topic specific blogs include everything from sports and politics to history and literature. There are photoblogs on which individuals post photographs of various things. There are photoblog discussion sites which are mostly plain text blogs where people discuss their own photoblogs and the photoblogs of others. There is photoblogging news which again consists of mostly plain text and people discuss different photoblogs that are out there and what they have to offer. Videoblogging is relatively new and is basically another form of self-_expression. There are blogs about videoblogging on which groups and individuals discuss things like the best digital video format. There are MP3 blogs which are very popular. These offer musical selections for listening and downloading pleasure.

Blog Hosting Services

MySpace is a service that allows users to use there weblog (blog) application software, either free or for a fee. MSN has a similar service. Usually basic services are free and customers pay extra for additional services. Individual users have their own web page or pages consisting of journal blogs, photos, or videos if desired as well as various background selections. Depending on a users knowledge of HTML text and graphics, these sites can be very simple or very complex, but all are as unique as the individuals that design them. MySpace has gotten some bad press lately because site users can browse profiles, in order to meet people in real life. This may be how some people choose to use the site, but is not how or why the site was designed to be used.

Why we blog

Blogging of any type is basically a form of self-_expression or idea exchange. It is not a dating service. People use them to keep in touch with their families and friends. Let everyone know what is going on in their life. They share photos from across the miles and across the years. People sometimes connect with people from other countries and sometimes reconnect with people who moved away in grade school. Yes, the sites have gotten some bad press and parental warnings, but doesnt everything new. If memory serves, it used to be chat rooms that were full of perverts waiting for the chance to take advantage of unsuspecting innocents. Now they blame it on the blogs.

Writing Blog Post Titles That Work

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

Your blog post title (or headline) is the first, and perhaps only, impression you make on a prospective reader. Without a post title that turns a browser into a reader, the rest of your blog may as well not even exist.

At its essence, a compelling headline must promise some kind of benefit or reward for the reader, in trade for the valuable time it takes to read more. Your headline is the first critical step to getting a link to your post.

Why? Because its got to be read before it can be linked!

According to some of the best copywriters of all time, you should spend half of the entire time it takes to write a piece of persuasive content on the headline. So if you have a blog post that is really important to you or your business, one that you really want people to read, you should downright obsess over your post title.

Advertising legend David Ogilvy knew the power of headlines, and how the headline literally determined whether the advertisement would get read. He rewrote this famous headline for an automobile advertisement 104 times:

At 60 miles an hour, the only thing you hear in the new Rolls Royce is the ticking of the dashboard clock

Master copywriter Gene Schwartz often spent an entire week on the first 50 words of a sales piece the headline and the opening paragraph. Those 50 words are the most important part of any persuasive writing, and writing them well takes time.

Even for the masters.

So, if you want to be an effective blogger, spend a little extra time on your post title.

Brian Clark is the founder of http://www.tubetorial.com which provides free video tutorials for online marketing success. He also shows you how to write headlines that work with his Magnetic Headlines series at Copyblogger.com

Blah, Blah, Blog

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

People tell you that you talk too much. You like to share your opinion about anything and everything. You enjoy debates, discussions, politics, and any other means by which you can get your word out there. So, you discovered blogging where you can opine about anything that comes to mind, and people can choose to either read it or not. Did you know, though, that your thoughts, opinions, and what some might refer to as blab can actually make you money online? Blogging can actually be used as a form of advertisement, or it can showcase other items in ads within your site, and both are opportunities to make money.

If you are already blogging because you enjoy sharing your opinion or sounding off to the public in regards to political or social issues, you should seek out opportunities to get paid to do so. There are several different sites that will pay posters to either opine on a public forum, inviting responses from interested parties and ultimately gaining members, or to blog, a service for which subscribers will pay so that they can read what you have to say. Some sites pay per post (and usually limit the number of posts allowed per pay period), while others pay on a weekly basis, requiring a minimum number of posts and responses per week. Check into the terms and conditions of any of these prior to signing up with them.

Another way to make money online through blogging is to advertise on your site. If you have established a regular blog on your own website, you should use this as an opportunity to earn money by advertising for others. You can sign up with an affiliate service, which will match the topics of your site with specific products or services advertised by various other members of the affiliate service who wish to advertise. You will take these ads and use them to build links from your blog site to the site advertised. Every time someone clicks on one of these links, it is recorded by the affiliate service, and the advertiser is charged a nominal fee. You receive a percentage of the fees collected from links posted and followed on your site. This pay-per-click service is a hassle-free way to earn a little money on the side. What simpler way to earn money than to keep up with a journal or blog site that allows you to tell the world what you think or feel?

Blogging is such a simple way to maintain a small, steady income, and it is especially useful for teens, who tend to build such sites anyway. They can use the pay-per-click services or the paid blog and forum posting sites to fund their entertainment, including trips to the movies with friends, lunches at school, and even gas for their transportation. Earning their own money, especially through internet business, will teach them responsibility and set them up for future successful enterprising.

Using PLR Material For Your Blogs

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

Blogs offer one of the quickest and easiest ways for anyone to have an Internet presence. Many people have discovered that compared to building a web site a blog is so much easier and quicker to create. It can also be very profitable if you can come up with interesting and informative subject that others want to read about. You can use a blog to advertise your web site or make money directly with affiliate programs or Adsense.

Blogs are particularly popular with the search engines and provided you regularly update your blog you could rank well for any keywords that you target.
Blogs are also a good way to attract visitors to your main site and raise your own profile within your niche. If your goal is to draw visitors to your website, creating a blog is a great way to get visitors interested in your site and the products or services you have to offer.

Although blogs are extremely easy and inexpensive to set up they do require time and effort to run. A successful blog needs fresh content to be added ideally on a daily basis and at the very least once a week. If you only post say once a month you will not gain the real benefits of having a blog. The reason search engines love blogs so much is because fresh content is regularly being added.

One good way to ensure that you have enough content to keep your blogs updated regularly is to have a supply of relevant Private Label Rights (PLR) material that you can use. The big advantage of PLR is that whether you buy articles or e-books you can use it in any way you like and make any changes and use it as you want.

You can find as much PLR material as you would ever need simply by searching for private label rights on Google or one of the other search engine. For blogging
I tend to break up the material into blog sized chunks, between 300-400 words and I will use these to post on days that I do not have the time to write fresh content myself.
This way I can run a series of niche targeted blogs that can be updated on a regular basis .

I do not usually tend to copy the items word for word as some search engines can penalise you for having exactly the same content as another web site. It is very simple and quick just to rewrite the first and last sentence just to make each entry original.

Private Label Rights material is freely available on the Internet these days and is a very inexpensive way to get content for your blogs. And of course you can also use it on your web sites or to create an e-book in double quick time.

Dave Bromley is a full time Internet Marketer and writer. To download a copy of his no cost report “Private Label Rights-A License to Print Money” - go to http://www.ezeeweb.co.uk/license-to-print-money

Make Money Online By Blogging - How To Get Started

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

Explore the many ways to make money online by blogging with or without a blog, get paid to write reviews of products and services, and earn extra cash by writing articles, content and blogging for Google AdSense blog networks.

    1. An overview on paid blogging
There are 3 main flavours of paid blogging - your own blog on your own domain and webhost, using a blog on a free blog service such as Blogger and creating a blog on a blog network. The work is the same. You get paid to write or blog about a product, service or anything required by a customer.

The amount paid varies greatly from US$1 to US$200 or more for about 50 to 200 words depending on advertiser requirement. The more popular or higher traffic your blog has, the greater your reach and therefore the higher you are paid. Terms vary in that you may be asked to write a single post from time to time or you may be contracted to blog a minimum of 1 post a day for a few weeks for a specified sum.

    2. Blog requirements
Usually, there are certain requirements that your blog will have to meet before being accepted for assignments. Requirements vary with each paid-to-blog network. Generally though, paid-to-blog networks do not accept new blogs with little content and no readership base, so you will need to spend the first few weeks or months writing posts regularly to build up a sizeable amount of content.

You could buy articles or use free articles from various sources of course, but ultimately you will have to write your own unique content to keep readers coming back. Its a lot of hard work.

Other requirements could be that your blog has to be several months old, be indexed by Google, be of a certain pagerank or have a certain amount of traffic. Blog content and writing standard also affect approval. If you do not own a blog, you may be asked to provide some writing samples for evaluation.

    3. Using a free blog on a blogging service
Creating a free blog on Blogger, Live Journal, Wordpress and other free blogging services is how most bloggers will start off. These sites are fine for personal blogs but if you have plans to monetize your blog and use it as a means to provide some form of viable revenue, it is best to register your own domain and host your own blog on a web host.

This is because you will have complete control over how you want to monetize your blog and have your own entity and identity eg. yourblog.com instead of yourblog.blogspot.com. Also, some paid-to-blog networks do not accept blogs created on a free blogging service.

    4. Creating a blog on a blog network
If you do not own a blog, you can still earn from blogging. Some blog networks require you to create a blog hosted on their network with their revenue earned directly from advertisers, syndication or other means. Sites: Blogchex, Gather, DigitalJournal.

Other blog networks engage you as their freelance professional blogger where you have to commit to making regular posts. In such cases, the content you create could belong to the blog network and you will not be able to use your content anywhere else. These have very high journalistic standards and are difficult to get accepted. Sites: 451press, Blog Republic, Weblogsinc.

    5. Posting on Google AdSense blog networks
Other blog networks who use Googles AdSense programme to generate revenue are less restrictive in terms of topics to write about and tend to be less demanding when it comes to content quality and the reuse of content at other sites.

Bloggers are paid by Google AdSense from the number of clicks received on ads embedded in their posts. Therefore you must first sign up for Googles AdSense programme before joining these blog networks. You also get paid for referrals. Payouts may seem too little to bother with but if you are active in many networks, the amounts add up. Sites: WriteNiche, WritingUp, Hubpages, Squidoo, Xoomba.

    6. Setting up your own blog on your own domain
Buying your own domain costs about US$8 a year while buying a basic hosting plan costs from about US$5 a month. Choose a reliable web host which has a good uptime track record and customer service is important. You may have to be prepared to spend a little more to ensure some reasonable level of quality hosting.

Visiting a web hosts forum where members discuss the web hosts service will give you a good idea of its reliability but since most have a 30-day money-back guarantee, signing up to try would probably be the best way to go.

After building up a fair amount of quality content, you can apply to join professional blog networks if your blog meets the high standards of these sites: Blogburst, B5media, Orble, Webbleyou.net

    7. Paid reviews
Some blog networks will assign offers to you from time to time and all you have to do is blog about the product or service and provide links as required on your blog. Other options of monetizing your blog may also be given such as placing banners and buttons or text links on your blog. Sites: PayPerPost, Blogsvertise, LoudLaunch, CreamAid.

Other blog networks provide a common platform to let advertisers select the blog they want to buy advertising space, links or pay for a review from the list of registered blogs. Sites: ReviewMe, ReverseLinks, Buzzbyblog, InBlogads, SponsoredReviews.

    8. Variations of paid blogging
There are several offshoots of paid blogging which instead of writing about a product or service, you get paid for your knowledge on certain topics and for providing answers to questions asked by other members in the community. Topics range from business to automobiles to health. You will be evaluated by a test before being accepted but earnings could be substantially higher than regular blogging. Site: JustAnswer.

You can also earn by providing a writing service such as academic papers and resumes, or writing content for end users such as websites, magazines and newsletters. These pay more than the usual paid blogging and is the the way to go if you have the skills. Sites: Constant-Content, CyberEdit, Academia-Research, Manuscriptservices.co.uk, AssociatedContent only accepts US residents.

    9. Blogging for companies
Businesses recognise the blog revolution and even large corporations have set up blogs. Many look to freelance professional bloggers for their blog. Software development companies may require bloggers for gadgets and tech-related topics. A lifestyle magazine may require bloggers to write about the night scene in their city or updates on celebrity gossip. The scope is restricted only by your ability and time. Sites: Bloggerjobs.biz, Jobs.problogger.net, Elance.com

    10. Blogging for individuals
There are people who need help blogging or who want to build up unique content the fastest way possible and so recruit a few people to contribute posts. The amount to be paid is entirely by mutual agreement and you possibly run a certain risk of not getting paid for your work. Sites: Bloggerforum.com, Earnersforum.com, Goldage.net, Forums.digitalpoint.com.

When is It OK to Brag on a Company Blog?

Posted by admin in Create A Blog

Is it smart to brag on a Company Blog? Some people say that is what it is for and yet in this day of over regulation, anything you say can be over scrutinized and if you brag too much it will look like forward looking statements and this can cause a huge issue in a public company and shareholders may sue. If an employee or executive in your company makes a statement there on the company then your company could be held liable there are misrepresentations of fact or embellishment.

Additionally, Blogs used in a business can be considered a form of advertising, as it is communication between your company and your customer. If you brag too much on a Blog you could also alienate your customer, as they feel you are too big and mighty and you no longer care about them. Do you? Maybe you dont, but either way publicizing that fact is a bad idea.

So, when is it okay to brag on a Blog? Well, when the information is true for one. But also only if the accomplishment you are bragging about helps your customer and you state why this accomplishment is helping them and why it is a mile market in your goal to serve them better? It is never okay to brag on a Blog or embellish the truth or even lie.

It is not okay to brag on a Blog, when you inflate or elevate the abilities of your company past the reality. Because once you do that could be considered false advertising and also remember once you claim you can do something, then you have to perform up to those new expectations you have now embedded in the customers mind. When is it OK to Brag on a Company Blog? When it is your own personal Blog and you have decided you want fewer friends in your life in my opinion. Consider all this in 2006.
